Share the Love- City Wide Food Drive through the Month of February

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -
Kicking off this week of Valentine’s Day through the month of February (Feb. 9-28) The City of Carbondale is hosting the ‘Share the Love, City-Wide Food Drive’ to support The Good Samaritan House Food Pantry, Bethel AME Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen, and the SIU Food Pantry.

Share the Love by donating non-perishable food items to these participating locations:

-The Carbondale Civic Center (Mon. - Fri. 8am-5pm)

-The Carbondale Police Department (Mon. - Fri. 8am-5pm)

-The Carbondale Fire Department (Stations 1 & 2, Mon. - Fri. 8am-5pm)

-Wal-Mart (Every Day, 6am-11pm)

-Kroger (Every Day, 6am-10pm)

Mayor Harvey says “I wanted to launch this City-Wide Food Drive during the month of February to supply food beyond the months we traditionally think of. During November-December, there are always food drives around the Holidays, but people are hungry year round. With  Valentine’s coming up, we think of February as the month of love, and this a great way to show your love for your fellow citizens here in Carbondale.”

“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open…for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
