Carbondale Police Press Release - Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm

CARBONDALE – On December 24, 2025, at approximately 9:22 p.m., City of Carbondale Police officers responded to the 500 block of South Beveridge Street following a report of shots fired. The investigation revealed that a residence sustained damage consistent with bullet strikes. No injuries were reported. The information learned during the investigation indicates the incident is related to a personal dispute and is not believed to be a random act.
Chief of Police Anthony Copeland stated, “The Carbondale Police Department remains committed to partnering with the community to address gun violence. Residents in the area should be assured that police resources are being directed toward these incidents, and they are not being taken lightly.”
The City of Carbondale Police Department is asking residents in the area who have home video security systems—and who were not able to speak with officers at the time—to review their footage from the reported time frame for any information that may assist the investigation.
