CARBONDALE – On December 23, 2025, at approximately 3:52 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 700 block of West College Street following a report of shots fired. Officers conducted a search of the area but did not locate any suspects or find evidence of property damage at that time. A witness reported seeing an unknown male wearing dark-colored clothing and a ski mask running westbound around the time the shots were heard. Officers spoke with several nearby residents; however, no additional information was obtained.
Later that evening, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Officers responded to a second report of shots fired in the same general area. While officers were unable to locate the source of the gunfire, the investigation revealed that a nearby building had sustained damage consistent with bullet strikes. No injuries were reported in connection with either incident.
