City of Gulf Shores Announces Closures in Honor of Independence Day

In honor of Independence Day, the City of Gulf Shores will have the following facility closures and changes to regular hours of operations: 

Emergency Services: Police, fire, and other emergency services will remain open to ensure public safety and health.

Administrative Offices: City administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 4.

Garbage and Recycling Pickup: Yard debris/bulky pickup routes scheduled for Friday, July 4, will run on Thursday, July 3. Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Services will run as scheduled. 

City Store: The Gulf Shores City Store will be closed Friday, July 4, and will resume regular operations on Saturday, July 5.

Gulf Shores Public Library and Gulf Shores Museum: The Thomas B. Norton Public Library and the Gulf Shores Museum will be closed Friday, July 4.

Bodenhamer Recreation Center: The Bodenhamer Recreation Center will have a modified schedule on Friday, July 4, it will be open from 5:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Tennis Center: The George C. Meyer Tennis Center will be closed on July 4. Courts will be open and available for public use. 

Cultural Center: The Cultural Center will be closed on July 4.

Pickleball Courts: The Pickleball Courts located at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex (19025 Oak Road West) will remain open and available for play.

As you celebrate Independence Day, please remember: 

  • The sale or use of fireworks within the corporate limits or police jurisdiction of the city is strictly prohibited.
  • Cooking with propane and or charcoal on decks, under, or within 10 feet of multifamily dwellings or combustible structures is prohibited.
  • Open fires on the beach or in public areas are prohibited.
