Trash, Recycling & Bulk Pickup Changes Begin Next Week

To support La Marque's continued growth and improve collection efficiency, Waste Management will implement updates to residential garbage, bulk waste, and recycling collection schedules beginning the week of October 11, 2026.

These changes are designed to balance collection routes across the city, simplify service schedules, and provide more consistent service for residents.

Route Adjustments

Several service areas will be adjusted as part of the update:

  • Omega Bay will move from the Monday/Thursday collection route to the Tuesday/Friday collection route.
  • The Lake Road service boundary will be extended to Westward Avenue.
  • Additional route adjustments will help balance collection workloads and accommodate continued residential growth.

What's Changing?

Currently, approximately 2,900 homes are served on the Monday/Thursday route and 4,200 homes are served on the Tuesday/Friday route. Following the route adjustments, service areas will be more evenly balanced:

  • Monday/Thursday Route: Approximately 3,500 homes
  • Tuesday/Friday Route: Approximately 3,672 homes

Bulk Collection Made Simpler

Beginning the week of October 11, bulk waste collection will occur on the second collection day of the week for all residents.

  • Monday/Thursday customers: Bulk collection every Thursday
  • Tuesday/Friday customers: Bulk collection every Friday

This change replaces multiple collection schedules with a simpler, more consistent system that is easier for residents to remember.

Recycling Collection Moving to Wednesdays

Recycling service will continue on its current every-other-week schedule. However, beginning the week of October 11, all recycling collection in La Marque will occur on Wednesdays.

  • Residents currently assigned to Wednesday recycling service will see no change.
  • Residents in the Blue Tuesday/Friday recycling zone will transition from alternating Tuesdays to alternating Wednesdays.

Only the day of collection is changing. Recycling frequency will remain the same.

Why These Changes Are Being Made

The route and schedule updates are intended to:

  • Balance collection workloads between service areas
  • Support residential growth and future development
  • Improve operational efficiency
  • Simplify collection schedules for residents
  • Provide more consistent and reliable service citywide

These changes help ensure Waste Management can continue providing dependable service while meeting the needs of a growing community.
