La Marque Launches New Online System for Permits, Events and Rentals

The City of La Marque Development Services Department is taking an important step toward modernizing customer service with the launch of a new online permitting platform powered by OpenGov.

Beginning September 28, 2026, Development Services will begin a soft launch of the new system, allowing contractors to create accounts and become familiar with the online portal ahead of the official launch on October 1, 2026.
The City of La Marque's new OpenGov permitting system launches October 1, 2026. Apply for permits, manage event applications, and reserve pavilions online. Contractors can begin creating accounts during the soft launch starting September 28.

The new platform will provide a convenient, user-friendly way to manage permits and applications online. Once fully implemented, customers will be able to submit applications, upload plans and supporting documents, track permit activity, and make payments electronically through a single system.

This transition is necessary because the City's existing permitting software has become obsolete and can no longer adequately support the needs of a growing organization and community. As the City continues implementing OpenGov across multiple departments, Development Services is joining a broader effort to modernize operations, improve efficiency, and provide a more seamless customer experience. Moving to a unified platform will help streamline workflows, improve transparency, and better support future growth.

While development-related permits remain a core function of the department, the platform will also support many services used by residents and event organizers. Development Services processes Special Event Permits, food truck permits, vendor permits, and pavilion rentals at Mac McGaffey Highland Bayou Park, making the new system a centralized hub for a wide range of community and business needs.

The launch of OpenGov is part of the City's ongoing effort to improve accessibility, efficiency, and customer service. As part of this transition, La Marque is moving toward a more digital and paperless permitting process, reducing paperwork and streamlining workflows for both customers and staff.

To ensure accessibility for all customers, the City will also install a public kiosk in the Development Services lobby. The kiosk will provide customers with direct access to the online portal, allowing them to create accounts, submit applications, upload documents, and manage permits while visiting the office.

As with any major software implementation, staff anticipate identifying opportunities for improvement as users begin working in the system. Development Services will continue refining processes and making adjustments throughout the rollout to ensure the platform meets the needs of residents, contractors, business owners, and event organizers.

The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of the community during this transition and looks forward to providing a more convenient, efficient, and accessible permitting experience through OpenGov.
