CALL FOR ARTISTS: CASA GRANDE ANIMAL CARE & ADOPTION CENTER WALL MURAL PROJECT ANNOUNCED.

Casa Grande, AZ – The Casa Grande Arts & Culture Commission is excited to announce the 2025 Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center Wall Mural Art Project, a public art initiative designed to enhance the city’s visual landscape and celebrate the life-saving mission of the Animal Care & Adoption Center. 

This community-focused project invites artists from Pinal County to submit proposals to design and paint a mural on the west-facing wall of the Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center, located at 202 E. First Avenue, Casa Grande, AZ. 

The Animal Care & Adoption Center provides essential services to the community—caring for abandoned and homeless animals, promoting public education, and supporting responsible pet ownership. The mural is intended to reflect these values and bring new attention to the facility. 

“We want the shelter to stand out, not blend in,” said Cerise Shanafelt, Animal Control Supervisor. “A vibrant mural can help raise awareness about the work we do and hopefully increase adoptions by drawing more people in. Every animal deserves a second chance, and we want the community to know where to find them.” 

In partnership with the Casa Grande Police Department, the project is part of a broader initiative to beautify civic spaces and showcase local artists. 

Artist Compensation

The selected artist will be awarded up to $6,500: 

• $3,250 upon project initiation 
• $3,250 upon project completion

All proposals must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on June 16, 2025, to:

Proposals must be clearly marked: “Animal Shelter Wall Mural Proposal.” Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
