SRPD News Release: Arrest made following shooting incident

Arrest made following shooting incident

On 7/6/2025 at approximately 7:30 AM, officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) were dispatched to a report of a gunshot in the 2000 block of Pioneer Way.  It was relayed to arriving officers that an argument had escalated into a single shot being fired at the victim.  The shooting took place near an apartment building.  When officers arrived, they were able to locate the suspect who had remained in the area following the shooting.  The suspect was identified as Cesar Pacheco, a 38-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Officers learned Pacheco and the adult male victim were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.  The two men separated, at which time Pacheco was said to have retrieved a firearm from his apartment. Pacheco returned to the scene and fired one round at the victim.  The victim was not struck, and no other people were injured.  The SRPD Gang Crimes Team responded to the scene and authored search warrants for Pacheco’s residence and vehicle. Detectives were unable to locate the firearm during the service of the search warrants.

Pacheco was arrested for assault with a firearm on a person per 245(a)(2) PC, and booked at the Sonoma County Jail.

SRPD Case #25-7574.
