Officer Recovers Two Loaded Firearms During Traffic Stop With Assist From K9 “Ghost”:

On Saturday, May 30, 2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for not having a front license plate in the area of B Street and Third Street in Santa Rosa.  During the stop, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle, as well as observed open containers of marijuana and alcoholic beverages in plain view.

The driver, 27-year-old Rohnert Park resident, Antonio Monter, front seat passenger, 25- year-old Rohnert Park resident, Michael Diaz-Fernandez, and rear seat passenger, 23-year-old Sacramento resident, Aaron Cade, were detained without incident.  A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle.  In the backseat of the vehicle was a satchel.  Inside the satchel contained a loaded, unregistered, unserialized 9mm P80 privately made firearm (PMF), as well as suspected fentanyl pills. 

During the investigation, an SRPD Officer and his K9 “Ghost” were called to the traffic stop.  K9 Ghost is specifically trained to detect firearms.  During the search of the vehicle, K9 Ghost altered to the presence of a firearm in the trunk.  A search of the trunk was conducted and a loaded, unregistered, .40 caliber firearm was found.

Monter was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following charges:
25400(a)(1) PC: Possession of concealed firearm in vehicle                                           
25850(a) PC: Possession of loaded firearm in vehicle

Diaz-Fernandez was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following charges:
25400(a)(1) PC: Possession of concealed firearm in vehicle                                           
25850(a) PC: Possession of loaded firearm in vehicle
11370.1 H&S: Possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm


Cade was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following charge:
Outstanding felony warrant out of Sacramento County for a firearm violation.
