SRPD News Release: Two teens arrested following vandalism and burglary at local church

Two teens arrested following vandalism and burglary at local church

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 8:15 am, a Field Evidence Technician (FET) with the Santa Rosa Police Department responded to Santa Rosa Bible Church at 4575 Badger Road to investigate a burglary and vandalism that occurred the day prior when no employees were present. The FET learned from church employees that two teen boys had entered the campus through an unsecured door and proceeded to throw items around and break a toilet in a bathroom, defecate on the bathroom floor, and urinate on the gymnasium floor. The boys also intentionally damaged the brand-new children’s play structure outside of the campus buildings.

Because of excellent security camera footage provided by the church, the two boys were quickly identified by SRPD personnel. On May 19th, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM, a 14-year-old male resident of Santa Rosa was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for felony burglary and felony vandalism charges. The second teen, a 15-year-old male resident of Danville and cousin of the other suspect, was driven to Santa Rosa by a parent to surrender to SRPD. The teen was also booked into Juvenile Hall for felony burglary and felony vandalism charges.

Message for our Youth Community — Let’s Talk Respect

We know you’re growing, learning, and figuring things out — but here’s something that always matters: respecting other people’s property.

Breaking into homes, schools, or businesses, or tagging and vandalizing buildings and property might seem like “no big deal” in the moment — but it hurts real people and damages the community we all share.

Here’s what happens when you vandalize or steal:

  • Families feel unsafe in their own neighborhoods.

  • Local organizations and businesses lose money and trust.

  • Your actions can lead to serious legal consequences that can follow you for years.

But here’s the good news: you have the power to make better choices. Be the kind of person who lifts up your community — not one who tears it down.

We’re here to support you, not just enforce the law. Let’s work together to keep Santa Rosa safe, respectful, and strong.
