Re: SRPD News Release: Multi-Victim Homicide Investigation Update
Muti-Victim Homicide Case Update
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 1:59 pm, the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Communications Center received a phone call requesting a check the welfare at a residence in the 200 block of Monarch Court, Santa Rosa. The reporting party, a boyfriend of one of the occupants, was concerned because they had not heard from a resident in a couple days. Officers were dispatched to the residence and evidentially made forced entry into the home through a window.
Inside, officers discovered 4 people in different areas of the house. They all appeared to have significant gunshot wounds and were all pronounced deceased at the scene. A semi-automatic handgun was also located near one of the deceased. The victims were a 33-year-old female, a 28-year-old male, a 67-year-old female, and a 67-year-old male. The four decedents are believed to be family members. Their names and exact relationships will not be released until identities are confirmed with the Sonoma County Corners Office. Autopsies for the decedents are scheduled today and tomorrow, January 10th, 2025.
At this time, the incident is still being investigated as a multi-person homicide. Detectives from the SRPD Violent Crime Team have taken over the investigation. Since the investigation began, Detectives and Field Evidence Technicians have processed the scene on Monarch Court and served a subsequent search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Buena Crest Court, San Jose. The residence in San Jose was searched as it was linked to one of the decedents.
The motive and circumstances of the shooting are currently under investigation by the SRPD Violent Crimes Team. We still do not believe there is any threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SRPD Violent Crime Team at 707-543-3590. SRPD case number 25-354. Media Inquires can be directed to Sergeant Brandon Matthies at bmatthies@srcity.org.
