Suspect with 1-month-old child in his car is arrested after brandishing a firearm at another driver
On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at approximately 4:52 pm, officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) were dispatched to the area of W. Third Street and Amador Drive to a report of a firearm brandishing. A male driving a silver BMW was seen pointing a firearm at another driver following a road rage incident. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the vehicle, which was quickly located by an SRPD sergeant near the intersection of Stony Point Road and Guerneville Road.
Additional officers responded to the area and assisted with a traffic stop. The driver, Kalvin Crump, a 23-year-old resident of Petaluma, was detained without incident. Also in his vehicle were his 1-month-old child and the child’s mother. SRPD K9 Ghost, who is trained in firearms detection, was brought to the scene and alerted on the presence of a firearm near the rear of the vehicle. In the rear hatch area, which was accessible to the occupants of the vehicle, was a backpack containing a loaded .40 mm handgun, an extra loaded magazine, a holster, and additional ammunition.
Crump was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:

The mother and child were released at the scene.
