Subject arrested for brandishing a firearm
On Wednesday December 25th, at 3:50 P.M., Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Stony Point Road and Sebastopol Road for the report of a suspect who brandished a firearm at a victim. The victim reported the suspect brandished a black semi-automatic handgun at him and then fled in a vehicle. The victim provided Officers with a description of the suspect and the vehicle. Based on the descriptions, Officers located the suspect vehicle a short distance away in the 1000 block of Kenmore Lane.
Officers contacted the suspect, Edgar Silva-Mendoza, a 29-year-old Santa Rosa resident exiting the above-described vehicle and entering his residence. The victim completed an infield show up and identified Edgar Silva-Mendoza as the person who brandished the firearm at him.
During the investigation, Officers discovered Edgar Silva-Mendoza was on probation. During a probation search, Officers also contacted Frederick Silva-Mendoza, a 31-year-old Santa Rosa resident, inside of the residence who was out on bail with search and seizure in his bail terms. Officers located the described black semi-automatic firearm (Smith and Wesson .40 caliber) used in the brandishing, and a second silver firearm (Jimenez Arms .380), both of which were located in Frederick Silva-Mendoza’s room.
Officers arrested Edgar Silva-Mendoza and Frederick Silva-Mendoza for the listed charges:
Edgar Silva-Mendoza:
PC 417(a)(2)(B)-Threaten with weapon in a public place. (Misdemeanor)
PC 25850(c)(6)- Unlawfully possess a firearm. (Felony)
PC 1203.2-Violation of Probation (Misdemeanor)
Frederick Silva-Mendoza:
PC 32- Accessory. (Felony)
PC 12022.1(a)(1)- Commit felony while on bail. (Felony)
