Suspect Arrested for Felony Hit and Run, Injuring a Parking Enforcement Officer

On Thursday December 5th at approximately 1:15pm, Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to “Lot 4”, a city of Santa Rosa Parking Structure, for a reported hit and run incident.

The reporting party, a City of Santa Rosa Parking Enforcement Officer, said he had been issuing a parking citation to a White Ford Van, towing a trailer for blocking in several other vehicles in the parking garage. The driver of the van had returned to the location and became upset with the officer and tried to drive off, hitting the parking enforcement officer in the process. The officer was asking for medical attention due to injuries sustained as he was struck.

SRPD Motorcycle officers responded to the parking structure. The victim described the driver as a white male adult in his forties, wearing a hat, and he had a dog with him in the vehicle. The victim described the white van and had the license plate that was out of the state of Ohio.

SRPD officers were quick to send out a “Be on the Lookout” for the van. A short time later, surveillance cameras picked up the van in the parking lot of Home Depot in Rohnert Park. Officers located the van in the parking lot and contacted the driver as he exited the store. The victim was able to positively identify the driver, along with an independent witness.

The suspect driver was identified as Vincent Kimber, a 35-year-old resident of Oregon. Kimber was arrested for Felony Hit and Run, causing injury, violation 20001(a) CVC. He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.

The victim had sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.
