Marijuana Robbery leads to two vehicle pursuits and five arrests
On 8/8/24, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Santa Rosa Police Department received a 911 call from a marijuana dispensary in the 1800 block of Empire Industrial Ct regarding a robbery that just occurred. The victim employee said four vehicles arrived and several subjects physically assaulted him and stole marijuana products from him. They then got into the vehicles and fled. The victim was able to provide good vehicle descriptions of the suspect vehicles.
Several Santa Rosa Police Department Officers staged in the area of HWY 101 to watch for the suspect vehicles. A Santa Rosa Police Officer located one of the vehicles as it passed driving south on HWY 101. The officer obtained the license plate and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and accelerated away from the officer.
The officer attempted to stay with the vehicle, but ultimately decided to terminate the pursuit because of speeds.
While this pursuit was taking place, another Santa Rosa Police Officer located another one of the suspect vehicles driving south on HWY 101. This officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle did not yield and started another vehicle pursuit.
The Sheriff’s Office Helicopter, Henry 1, was available and assisted with the pursuit. The second suspect vehicle took the HWY 116 exit in Cotati and hit a curb. This disabled the vehicle and it came to a stop on HWY 116 at Redwood Drive. Three occupants from the vehicle exited and fled into the neighborhood in the area of West Cotati Avenue and Maple Avenue.
With the assistance of the Rohnert Park Department of Safety, the Cotati Police Department, Sheriff’s Deputies and Henry 1, the three suspects were located and taken into custody without incident.
As the second pursuit was taking place, a Santa Rosa Police Officer stopped a third vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description. This vehicle yielded on HWY 101 near Todd Road. There were three occupants in the vehicle. One of the passengers confronted the officer and a physical altercation took place. The officer was not able to detain the suspect and the suspect fled into the area of Moorland Avenue north of Todd Road. The officer directed his attention to the other occupants of the vehicle and detained them without further incident.
Evidence from the robbery was found in both vehicles.
