SRPD News Release: Coordinated Organized Retail Theft Operation Nets 7 Arrests
Santa Rosa Police Department and Sonoma County District Attorney's Office Conduct Organized Retail Theft Operation at Santa Rosa Marketplace Resulting in Seven Arrests
On October 22, 2026, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD), in partnership with the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office, conducted an Organized Retail Theft (ORT) operation in the 1900-block of Santa Rosa Avenue, within multiple businesses at the Santa Rosa Marketplace. Over the course of the approximately five-hour operation, seven people were arrested for retail theft and other associated offenses.
The operation was staffed by District Attorney Investigators, detectives from the SRPD Property Crimes Investigation (PCI) Team, and patrol officers assigned to Beat 8, where the operation took place. Undercover investigators worked inside retail businesses alongside loss prevention personnel to identify thefts in progress, while uniformed officers contacted suspects after they exited the stores.
Retail loss prevention agents were instrumental in assisting officers and investigators throughout the operation. That ongoing collaboration between retailers, SRPD, and the District Attorney's Office remains essential to identifying the prolific offenders responsible for a disproportionate share of retail theft in our community.
In at least two additional instances, District Attorney Investigators observed subjects abandon merchandise inside a store after seeing law enforcement activity outside the business. Those individuals were contacted and released with warnings.
Property stolen in each incident was recovered and returned to the affected retailers.
The following people were arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility:
- San Giovanny Carrera Ramirez, age 31, Santa Rosa resident (SRPD case #26-11791): 484(a) PC – Petty theft
