MAN ARRESTED FOR STRIKING ANOTHER MAN MULTIPLE TIMES WITH A BAT
On 5/14/2026 at 6:18 am, Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to a fight in the area of Hoen Ave and Summerfield Road. When officers arrived, the fight had already ended and the Suspect had fled the scene. Through the investigation, Officers learned the Victim was seated in the passenger seat of a co-worker’s vehicle while they were both waiting for their shift to start. The Suspect pulled into the parking lot, exited his vehicle, and used a bat to strike the victim vehicle. When the Victim from the passenger seat exited the vehicle to flee, the Suspect attacked him with the bat, and he was struck from behind. The Victim grabbed ahold of the Suspect and was able to get the bat away. The Suspect then physically struck the Victim and was able to re-retrieve the bat. The Suspect repeatedly struck the Victim with it in the upper torso. The Suspect also yelled threats indicating he would harm or kill the Victim. The Victim suffered moderate injuries was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
The Suspect, identified as 21-year-old Santa Rosa resident Jose Cazares, was known to both occupants of the victim vehicle. Officers were not initially successful in locating him and issued a Be On the Lookout (BOL) to allied agencies in efforts to help locate him. At 12:17pm, a Sonoma County Sheriff Deputy advised he had located and detained the suspect in the southwest area of Santa Rosa. Cazares was arrested and booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility for
