SRPD News Release: Cinco de Mayo Traffic and Safety Advisory
Cinco de Mayo Traffic and Safety Advisory
SRPD expects large crowds in and around restaurants, bars, and the Roseland Cinco de Mayo Festival on Tuesday, May 5th. The festival is being held at the Roseland Village Shopping Center between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Officers will be on hand to help keep the festivities safe and enjoyable. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, be patient with traffic and foot congestion, and look out for one another.
Road Closures:
Sebastopol Road will be closed between Avalon Avenue and West Avenue beginning at 8:00 AM tomorrow through 8:00 AM on May 6th. Please plan alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
Celebrate responsibly: There will be increased DUI enforcement through strategic upstaffing and targeted saturation patrols, leveraging grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the state’s Cannabis Tax Fund Grant to enhance roadway safety without impacting general fund resources.
If you plan to drink, choose a designated driver, rideshare, public transportation, or make arrangements for a safe ride home. A few smart choices can prevent serious injuries, save lives, and ensure everyone gets home safely. Let’s celebrate responsibly and take care of one another.
