SRPD Gang Crimes Team Makes an Arrest in Armed Robbery Case

On January 25, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) were dispatched to a late-reported armed robbery. The adult male victim stated that at approximately 2:00 p.m. the same day, an unknown male approached him in the 1300 block of Funston Drive and stole a piece of jewelry from him at gunpoint. The suspect pulled a handgun from a satchel, pointed it at the victim, and forcibly took the jewelry from the victim before running from the scene. Just prior to the robbery, the suspect made statements officers believed to indicate he was affiliated with a criminal street gang.

Detectives with the SRPD Gang Crimes Team (GCT) assumed the investigation and began developing leads. Detectives identified a 16-year-old male resident of Healdsburg as the suspect in this robbery. On January 28, GCT detectives and officers with the SRPD Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at the juvenile’s residence located in the 400 block of North Street, Healdsburg. The juvenile suspect was home at the time of the search warrant service and was detained without incident.

During the search warrants, detectives located a .45 caliber handgun, ammunition, approximately 14 grams of suspected cocaine, and a significant amount of cash. Besides being too young to legally possess a firearm, the suspect is on probation with probation terms specifically prohibiting firearm possession. Detectives determined the amount of narcotics and currency located was consistent with illegal narcotics sales.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for the following offenses:

211 PC – Robbery
186.22(a) PC – Participate in a criminal street gang
186.22(b) PC – Gang enhancement
29820 PC – Prohibited person in possession of a firearm
30305 PC – Prohibited person in possession of ammunition
11351 HS – Possession of drugs for sale
628.1 WI - Commit violation while on supervised release

Due to the age of the suspect, no identifying information will be released.

The SRPD Gang Crimes Team was reinstated in December 2023, following a long absence caused by staffing shortages. GCT has four key priorities: prevention, intervention, education, and enforcement. Additionally, GCT provides a crucial bridge for those in need of community resources, making 30 referrals to the Violence Prevention Partnership in their first year since reinstatement.

Santa Rosa Police Department case number 26-826.
