ALPR Technology Leads to the Arrest of Three Home Invasion Robbery Suspects
On February 1, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) responded to a 911 call reporting an armed home invasion robbery at a residence in the 1600 block of Herbert Street. Two suspects forced their way inside, held multiple family members at gunpoint, and demanded money. Three adult victims in their 40s, and one 11-year-old boy were home at the time of the robbery. Police learned one of the adult male victims had his hands bound behind his back, while the second adult male victim was “pistol whipped” and punched at least one time. He was later treated and released from an area hospital for a laceration to the back of his head. The adult female victim and child were uninjured.
The suspects fled the residence and were captured on an area home security camera removing four large garbage bags from the residence. Area residents saw the suspects leave the area in a red sedan but were unable to provide further details.
Numerous SRPD officers, assisted by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Henry‑1 helicopter, searched the surrounding neighborhoods. Despite an extensive search, officers were unable to locate the suspects immediately following the robbery.
A detective with the Violent Crimes Investigations Team (VCI) assumed the investigation, and a Field & Evidence Technician responded for crime scene processing.
During the investigation, officers utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology and identified a vehicle of interest, a red Nissan Altima, seen leaving the area around the time of the incident.
At approximately 12:50 a.m., an SRPD officer located the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 101 approaching the Yolanda Avenue exit. The officer initiated a traffic stop, pulling the vehicle over in the 2600 block of Santa Rosa Avenue. Three adult male occupants were detained. During a search of the vehicle, officers located two black masks, a tactical light intended for use on a handgun, and four large garbage bags matching those seen in surveillance video. The bags contained approximately 28 pounds of marijuana believed to have been taken during the robbery. No firearms were located during this search. VCI detectives are still actively investigating this case. Additional details may be released as they become available.
All three men were arrested on numerous felony charges related to the home invasion robbery and possession of stolen property.
Dominic Mastropasqua, a 21-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, and Tyler Beltran, a 19-year-old transient from Santa Rosa, were both booked into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the following charges:
211 PC – Robbery
245(a)(2) PC – Assault with a firearm
273a(a) PC – Felony child endangerment
182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy
Jorge Lozano Casillas, a 23-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was booked into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the following offense:
496(a) PC – Felony possession of stolen property
The Santa Rosa Police Department would like to recognize the effective use of ALPR technology in swiftly identifying the suspect vehicle, ultimately leading to the safe apprehension of everyone involved.
