Suspect arrested after loaded firearm and narcotics were found in vehicle
 

On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at approximately 12:36 am, a Santa Rosa Police Officer was driving in the area of Steele Ln and Berkeley Dr when he saw a vehicle with tinted windows (Violation 26708 CVC). The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and recognized the driver, Steven Molina, a 55 year-old Santa Rosa resident, from prior contacts.

The officer conducted a records check of Molina and found he was on full searchable probation. The officer conducted a search of Molina and his vehicle. He located approximately 112.9g of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm firearm with an extended magazine. The firearm was located in a black bag under the front passenger seat.

The firearm was a privately manufactured firearm (PMF), commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.” These firearms do not have serial numbers and are not registered with the Department of Justice (DOJ). The firearm was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Molina is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.

Molina was transported to Sonoma County Jail and booked for the following charges:

25850(c)(6) PC-Possession of an unregistered firearm
29800(a)(1) PC-Felon in possession of a firearm
30305(a) PC-Felon in possession of ammunition
1203.2 PC-Probation violation
11370.1(a) HS-Possession of controlled substance while armed
11395(b)(1) HS-Possession of a controlled substance with priors
