SRPD Enhances Patrols for 2025 Holiday Shopping Season
To ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday shopping experience, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) is increasing patrols in the downtown core throughout the busy season. Starting this week, officers and Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) Downtown Ambassadors will be conducting foot patrols in high-traffic areas such as Railroad Square, Old Courthouse Square, and Santa Rosa Plaza, where large crowds and retail activity are expected.
Patrols will be concentrated on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, when shopping traffic is heaviest. Officers will be on foot to provide a visible presence, engage with the community, and address any public safety concerns promptly. SRPD remains committed to maintaining safety and addressing disturbances swiftly.
Additionally, patrol officers will be conducting foot patrols in other high-traffic shopping areas like Montgomery Village, Coddingtown, and Roseland Business District.
VIPS Downtown Ambassadors
Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) Downtown Ambassadors will be on foot patrols Fridays and Saturdays from November 28 through December 24. These ambassadors will assist the public and enhance safety and customer service during the holiday season.
Downtown Foot Patrols
SRPD’s Downtown Enforcement Team (DET) will patrol key areas within the downtown footprint, including Railroad Square and Old Courthouse Square, offering visibility and opportunities for positive community interaction.
Santa Rosa Plaza Patrols
The Santa Rosa Plaza Mall will also see enhanced security, as SRPD officers supplement the mall’s existing security team. Officers will patrol the interior, perimeter, and parking garages to ensure the safety of shoppers and employees.
Chief Cregan on Patrol!
Chief John Cregan will also be out and about conducting his own foot patrols in the downtown core this holiday season. If you spot him, take a moment to say hello!
SRPD encourages residents and visitors to stay aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity, and enjoy a safe, festive shopping experience. When you see our officers and VIPS ambassadors while enjoying downtown shopping, dining, and entertainment, please wave or say hello!
