Santa Rosa Police Department Releases 2024 Annual Report
The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) is proud to announce the release of its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of progress, innovation, and community partnership.
In his letter to the community, Chief John Cregan reflects on a year marked by significant achievements, including an 80% reduction in homicides, the seizure of 390 firearms, and the expansion of the inRESPONSE mental health crisis team to 24/7 coverage. Chief Cregan emphasizes the department’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and building a safer, stronger Santa Rosa.
Among the year’s key milestones was the reinstatement of the Gang Crimes Team, a specialized unit focused on gang-related offenses through prevention, intervention, education, and enforcement. The team’s efforts have already made a measurable impact on public safety.
To further enhance officer readiness and professional development, SRPD added two full-time Training Officers to its Training Team in August 2024. These officers are responsible for designing and delivering standardized, best-practice training across the department, ensuring consistency and excellence in service.
The report also introduces the SRPD Strategic Plan for 2025–2029, a comprehensive roadmap built around six core goals: community safety, organizational excellence, technology and innovation, wellness, facilities and equipment, and community engagement. Developed in collaboration with staff and community members, the plan will guide SRPD’s growth and resource allocation over the next five years.
The full report is available online here. SRPD invites all community members to review the report and join in its mission to make Santa Rosa a safe place to live, work, and play.
