Cloverdale Resident Arrested for Carjacking in Santa Rosa

On August 22, 2025, at approximately 1:30 P.M, Santa Rosa Police officers were dispatched to the Kaiser Medical offices located at 3975 Old Redwood Highway in Santa Rosa, for the report of a stolen vehicle and possible assault.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, a maintenance worker employed by Kaiser. The victim reported that his work truck a white pickup with lumber racks had been parked near the front entrance of the facility when he observed an unknown male suspect enter the vehicle and start the engine.

To stop the suspect from fleeing, the victim approached the driver’s side and attempted to remove the keys from the ignition. The suspect verbally threatened the victim, claiming he had a firearm, and then accelerated out of the parking lot while the victim was still holding onto the driver side of the door. The victim was dragged approximately 25 yards before falling to the ground. He sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Video surveillance footage reviewed by responding officers identified the suspect as Matthew Webb, a 41-year-old resident of Cloverdale.

A "Be On the Lookout" (BOLO) was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies. Shortly thereafter, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies, including air support unit Henry 1, and officers from the Healdsburg Police Department located the stolen truck near the 100 block of Bailhache Avenue in Healdsburg.

Webb had parked the stolen vehicle on a property and entered a different vehicle. When deputies and officers attempted to make contact, Webb fled the scene, initiating a vehicle pursuit through downtown Healdsburg. During the pursuit, Webb intentionally rammed a Healdsburg Police officer’s patrol vehicle.

Webb eventually slowed down, abandoned his vehicle, and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly apprehended by officers and deputies and taken into custody without any further incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges including carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evasion, and assault causing bodily injury are being recommended from the Santa Rosa Police Department, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, and the Healdsburg Police Department.
