Louisa County

Facility Closings and Interrupted Operations

Due to cases of kennel cough, the Louisa County Animal Shelter will suspend dog intake until the cases are successfully treated. The public may still adopt dogs by appointment only during this time, but should note that the virus can be carried on clothing and entering the shelter should be avoided if very young or elderly dogs are present at home.

The Louisa County Bark Park, adjacent to the Animal Shelter, will be closed for the remainder of the week. The Bark Park will reopen on Monday, May 25, 2026.
