Flash Flood Warning issued April 18 at 2:58PM HST until April 18 at 4:30PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

At 258 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over eastern Maui,
particularly along the lower slopes of Haleakala from Kihea to Hana
to Keanae. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
in steep terrain.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Kula, Keokea, Pukalani, Makawao, Haliimaile,
Keanae, Huelo, Kipahulu, Kaupo, Haiku-Pauwela, Nahiku, Ulupalakua,
Wailea, Pauwela, Paia, Makena, Puunene and Maalaea.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.
