Clarification on Utility Pole Incident in Manitou Springs
The City of Manitou Springs is issuing a correction regarding an earlier report of a utility pole incident on Manitou Avenue.
After a debrief with involved parties, it has been clarified that Pauley Construction, which has been conducting utility work in preparation for the Creek Walk Trail Phase 4 project, was in the process of removing a pole when it fell into Manitou Avenue. The pole and the line attached were not live.
Contrary to initial reports, emergency services were not contacted or needed. Pauley Construction crews managed traffic and removed the downed pole independently. The work was resolved within approximately 15–20 minutes, allowing traffic to resume and the project to continue.
The City of Manitou Springs apologizes for the earlier misinformation. In the urgency of the situation, the priority was securing the scene and ensuring public safety.
