City of Manitou Springs to Restart 2025 Paving Improvement Project Sept. 22

The City of Manitou Springs will restart its 2025 Paving Improvement Project on Monday, Sept. 22, initiating a new round of roadwork to improve key streets across the community. The project is fully funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) Maintenance Program, which provides critical support for infrastructure across the region.

Work will be performed by Pyramid Construction Inc., with oversight and coordination from the city’s Public Services Department. Construction is expected to continue through Mid-December, weather permitting.

This year’s paving effort builds on the city’s 2024 Road Improvement Project, which resulted in the largest single-year investment in local streets in recent memory and improved more than 10 miles of roadway.

Streets scheduled for repair (by anticipated sequence):

Phase 1:

Phase 3:

  • Manitou Avenue and Crystal Park Road (intersection area)

Work hours are scheduled for Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting, with occasional Saturday work as needed to maintain the project schedule.

Residents and businesses along affected streets will receive advance notification before work begins in their area. Door hanger notices will include schedule details and serve as temporary parking passes. These passes should be displayed on dashboards or rearview mirrors to assist parking enforcement.

Streets requiring full closures will be posted in advance. On-street parking in the work zone will be prohibited, and vehicles left in the area will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Surrounding neighborhoods may experience increased parking demand during construction. The city urges residents to be mindful of temporary conditions.

Residents and businesses with accessibility concerns are encouraged to contact Public Services. Crews will coordinate with affected parties on a case-by-case basis to ensure continued access and reasonable accommodations.
