Heritage Festival

Heritage Festival & Horse Parade

Join us for the annual Heritage Festival on September 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Historic Sandy District. The day kicks off with a spectacular horse parade at 10:00 a.m., followed by live music, food vendors, bounce houses, face painting, and more, all set against the backdrop of our community’s rich heritage.

Healing Fields

Sandy Healing Field

Join us at the Utah Healing Field in Sandy City, from September 10—15. Walk among rows of American flags honoring our military service members, first responders, and their families. Take a moment to reflect, remember, and show your gratitude in this meaningful tribute.

Municipal Elections

Voter Information

The results of the Sandy City Primary Election are now official. The top two candidates in each race will move on to the Municipal General Election.
This year’s races include:

  • Mayor
  • City Council At-Large
  • City Council District 1
  • City Council District 3

Registered voters will receive their second ballots by mail on Oct. 14. Those who are not registered to vote can do so up to 11 days before the general election. Please be sure to return your ballot by mail by Oct. 28, or vote in person on Nov. 4.

Sandy Visual Art Show

Sandy Visual Art Show

Registration is open for the 2025 Sandy Visual Art Show! All artists will have the opportunity to publicly exhibit and sell their artwork. Winners receive cash prizes. The gallery is free and open to the public from September 30 to October 10 at the Sandy Senior Center. 
Online registration closes September 24. In-person registration is available during art drop-off on September 25.

Fall Bulk Waste

Fall Bulk Waste Collection
Begins September 8

Residents should place large household items, such as furniture, appliances, and other bulky waste, curbside no earlier than 72 hours before their scheduled collection week. Each household is permitted one bulk waste pile. Please ensure all items are at the curb by the start of your designated week. For a comprehensive list of acceptable items and guidelines, visit: sandy.utah.gov/bulkwaste

Emergency Preparedness Openhouse

Be Ready Sandy Preparedness Open House

September is National Preparedness Month. Join us Wednesday, September 17, from 7–9 p.m. at Sandy City Hall for a free, hands-on event with booths and demonstrations on go-bags, food and water storage, first aid, emergency communications, and more. All ages welcome.

National Day of Service

National Day of Service

Join us on Saturday, September 6, for the National Day of Service as we honor our first responders. A special program will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Sandy City Hall, featuring the Utah Pipe Band, Color Guard, a 21-gun salute, and the Free Methodist Choir-Congo.

Track Your Water Use and Save

Sandy City residents can now access the WaterSmart Portal, a free tool to help track household water use, detect leaks, and set usage goals. Signing up is quick—enter your account number and ZIP code. Watch this Video to learn more.

Fire Station 31 - Grand Opening

Save the Date – Station 31 Grand Opening 

Join us on Saturday, October 11, for the grand opening of Sandy Fire Station 31. Enjoy a community pancake breakfast, kids’ activities, a “ribbon cutting” and guided tours of the new station during our open house. More details will be shared soon, so please mark your calendars and join us in celebration!


Traffic Alert - 9000 S. Road Closure

Construction Closures

UTA will replace the rail line and concrete crossing at 9000 South between State Street and 700 East. This work requires full closures in both directions during construction, with all lanes reopening between phases for the Real game Saturday evening.

Key Dates and Closures:

  • Sep 10–13 (Wed–Sat 12 p.m.):  Westbound lanes (north side) closed
  • Sep 13 (Sat 12 p.m.- 12 a.m.): All lanes open, both directions
  • Sep 14–17 (Sun–Wed): Eastbound lanes (south side) closed
  • Sep 18 (Thu):  All lanes open by the morning commute

What to Expect:

  • Work will be done around the clock to finish the project as quickly as possible.
  • Detours will be in place at State St. and 700 E.; through traffic will be redirected to 9400 S. and 8600 S.
  • A bus bridge will shuttle riders between the 9000 S. and 10600 S. TRAX stations.

We appreciate your patience during this important improvement project. Please plan ahead, allow extra time for travel, and use detour routes when possible.
