Pacific Avenue Improvement Project

Pacific Avenue closed from Monday, April 6 through Saturday, April 18

The Town of Telluride Public Works Department has begun the next phase of improvements on Pacific Avenue, with a full closure between Mahoney Drive and South Tomboy Street starting Monday, April 6 through Saturday, April 18. This phase advances critical infrastructure work and prepares the corridor for final improvements.

Pacific Avenue is closed from Mahoney to Tomboy through Friday, May 1. Access to Carhenge on Tomboy. Access to businesses via Davis. Galloping Goose bus reroute will go up Mahoney and return to its normal route on Davis.

Project Schedule

  • April 6-18: Full closure of Pacific Avenue between Mahoney Drive and South Tomboy Street.
  • Work during this phase includes:
    • Utility relocations associated with the Mahoney Bridge Replacement
    • Completion of curb, gutter, and roadway improvements
    • Riverwalk pathway realignment to Mahoney Drive
    • Landscaping and irrigation installation

Access & Traffic Impacts

  • Carhenge will remain accessible via South Tomboy Street.
  • The Galloping Goose will be rerouted around construction
  • Local access will be maintained where feasible; please follow posted detour routes.
  • Pedestrian and multimodal detours will be in place around the work zone.
  • Drivers and pedestrians should expect delays and use caution in the area.

  • Temporary traffic shifts and limited access during active work.
  • Increased construction activity and equipment in the corridor.
  • Intermittent noise and dust associated with construction operations.

Why This Work Matters

These improvements are designed to strengthen our roads, improve drainage, and enhance pedestrian safety along West Pacific Avenue. They also support the Mahoney Bridge Replacement and enhance long-term safety, connectivity, and functionality along Pacific Avenue, including improved pedestrian access and corridor resilience.
