The City of Wheaton’s Environmental Improvement Commission, in partnership with SCARCE, will host its annual Pumpkin Smash drop-off event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Commuter Parking Lot 9 at Liberty Drive & Carlton Avenue.

Bring your pumpkins to be composted and help keep them out of landfills. Please remove all decorations before dropping them off.

Pumpkin Smash began in 2014 with SCARCE, Wheaton and Elmhurst. By 2025, it had grown to more than 125 collection sites across Illinois and around the country. Composting pumpkins, which are about 90 percent water, returns moisture and nutrients to the soil while helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
