City of Wheaton, IL
Take Online Survey to Provide Input for Wheaton Zoning Ordinance Update

On Oct. 22, a drop-in open house at City Hall kicked off the process to update Wheaton’s Zoning Ordinance, and attendees helped share their input on topics ranging from residential housing needs to commercial sign preferences to the use of sustainable materials. If you missed the open house, you can provide feedback through the Zoning Ordinance Update Online Survey.
Community feedback helps ensure the updated Zoning Ordinance reflects the community’s vision for how land is used and developed in the future. The City’s last full update of the Zoning Ordinance was in 1989, and it has been amended 147 times since then.
The current update will modernize the ordinance and make it easier to read and understand for everyone who uses it – including residents, staff, developers and elected officials. The updated Zoning Ordinance will guide future development and redevelopment in a way that reflects the community’s vision while helping streamline the development review process.
This project will include additional opportunities for public feedback. You can read more about the project and see the latest updates on the Wheaton Zoning Ordinance Update project website.
