Reminder: Place Storm-Damaged Tree Limbs/Branches at Curb by Monday Morning for Pickup
Due to widespread storm damage throughout the community, Wheaton Public Works crews will be providing one free Citywide pickup of all storm-damaged tree limbs and branches placed at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3. This pickup includes storm-damaged limbs and branches from both parkway trees and trees on private property. You do not need to bundle or prepare tree limbs or branches for them to be picked up, and you do not need to use yard waste bags or stickers. This pickup is for properties within incorporated City limits. If you are in an unincorporated area, please reach out to your public works service provider for assistance.
To assist our crews with safe and efficient pickup, please do not pile storm-related home debris, fences, tree stumps, garbage or any other material with tree branches at the curb. Only tree limbs and branches will be collected.
While this pickup is expected to take several weeks to complete, please ensure your trees/branches are at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3 so you do not miss this pickup, as the City will only make one pass through the community. Once the City completes its pass, you will again be responsible for tree debris removal originating from private property.
Crews have been working to clear trees and initial damage in many areas throughout the City since this storm reached Wheaton on Monday, so you may have already seen crews removing trees and limbs from your neighborhood. This was not part of the one-time Citywide pickup, and crews will return to all neighborhoods to pick up damage at the curb. Once the Citywide pickup begins, you will be able to see their progress on this map. Thank you for your patience as Public Works crews continue working to clean up our community.
