Hale Street Closure for Return of Outdoor Dining Tents

Wheaton Informs
The block of Hale Street between Front and Wesley streets will be closed to traffic starting in the late evening Sunday, April 26, 2026 in preparation for the return of the Hale Street Tents on Friday, May 1.

Offering outdoor dining from numerous local restaurants and live music on select days, this event is provided by the Downtown Wheaton Association. This block will remain closed to traffic throughout the spring/summer into early fall.

To ensure everyone’s safety, please remember that you may not ride bikes, scooters, skateboards or skates under the tents or on downtown sidewalks. If you are on the sidewalk, you need to “walk your wheels” in the downtown (except for the portion of the Illinois Prairie Path along Liberty Drive that runs through downtown Wheaton).

You will also find numerous opportunities for outdoor dining and live entertainment in other downtown locations and in Wheaton's other shopping districts during warmer months, too, as many Wheaton restaurants and businesses offer outdoor dining and entertainment. Be sure to check out all that's happening and support the local business community throughout Wheaton.

For more information on the Hale Street Tents and other outdoor dining and entertainment in downtown Wheaton, visit the Downtown Wheaton Association's website.
