City of Warren Ensures Safe Drinking Water for Residents Through Service Line Identification Program (Updated Link)

The City of Warren is committed to the safety and quality of drinking water for our residents. The process of identifying and replacing any lead service lines, which could potentially impact the quality of tap water, is part of this initiative.
To date, Warren’s Water Department has already replaced 400 lead service lines at no cost to residents. Another 200 homes with lead service lines have been identified, and efforts are underway to replace these lines. The City of Warren is determined to complete the process of lead service line replacement as quickly as possible.
Currently, there are still homes in Warren with water service lines that have yet to be identified. Warren Water Department is attempting to contact occupants of these homes with a postcard in coming weeks. This is a select group the city is requesting assistance in identifying the material of their water service lines. This is essential in the city’s efforts to maintain a safe and clean water supply while meeting federal safety standards.
“Ensuring resident health and safety is our highest priority,” said Dave Koss, Water Division Superintendent. “By working together, we can modernize our infrastructure, eliminate potential risks, and continue to provide safe drinking water for every household.”
It’s important to note that while Warren’s tap water is free of lead, lead service lines can still pose a potential source of contamination. Replacement of lead service lines is free of charge. The City of Warren is asking for residents' assistance in identifying service line materials.
To help, the city has provided detailed instructions on its website for checking and reporting service line materials. Residents can also contact the Warren Customer Service Department at 586-759- 9200 to schedule a free appointment for a technician to inspect the water service line entering their home.
Together, we can ensure drinking water remains clean, safe, and of the highest quality for all Warren's residents!
