For the week ending Sunday, September 27th, 2026, … Lytle P.D. officers handled 51 calls for service and conducted 64 traffic stops. Of those stops, 19 resulted in citations, and 45 were warnings.
There were no property crimes reported!
Officers made five arrests last week. #1 – A traffic stop on Main Street resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old male for D.W.I.  #2 – A traffic stop on Main Street resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old male for D.W.I. #3 – A traffic stop on Lytle-Somerset Street resulted in the arrest of a 35- year-old male for D.W.I.  #4 – A disturbance call on Magnolia Street resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old male for Public Intoxication. #5 – A traffic stop on Main Street resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old male for D.W.I. All five individuals were booked into the Atascosa County Jail in Jourdanton.
Four D.W.I. arrests this week; it’s a lot of work but well worth it. I am very proud of my night shift team and all they do to protect our community. Keep up the good work!
Have you been to the Alamo lately? So much is going on down there. I realized that my two youngest sons hadn’t been to the Alamo, so we took a little trip last week. The first thing I noticed was all the State Troopers. Texas DPS took over providing law enforcement services, and it is obvious.  There were marked units parked all around the place and numerous State Troopers conducting foot and bike patrols. It might be the safest place in Texas. I can’t imagine somebody even trying to jaywalk there. It was fun, and you can still see a good bit without paying anything (except for your traditional downtown parking!).
Our National Night Out event will be on Tuesday, October 6th at the Lytle Community Center on Priest Blvd. The hours will be from 6 PM – 8 PM. Area law enforcement, fire, and emergency services staff and equipment will be present. We will provide food, drinks, and snacks. It looks like we will have over twenty-five tables set up for local businesses and organizations. It should be a fun night.
Saturday, December 12th, 2026, is the date of our annual Christmas Hayride. We will meet that evening at the Lytle Community Center and board trailers for an old-fashioned hayride around Lytle to check out the lights. I hope we will get temps in the low 90s by then.
In other news … My 18-year-old son (Luke) graduated from the Kilgore College Fire Academy on Friday night! He gets a week off, and then it is on to the EMT course. KC has a great program up there! Special thanks to Johnny Zackary, Associate Dean of Public Services. He saw me walking around and asked if I wanted to present my son with his certificate. I am very proud of my son; we got him a few gifts ... one being an autographed picture of me. He got a big kick out of it; his buddies did too. I am very proud of him.
