There will be a regular city council meeting tonight (Monday, September 14th, 2026) at 6:30 PM at the Lytle City Hall.

For the week ending Sunday, September 13th, 2026, … Lytle P.D. officers handled 49 calls for service and conducted 38 traffic stops. Of those stops, 10 resulted in citations and 28 were warnings.
Two property crimes were reported last week. #1 – H.E.B. Plus reported that a female walked out with approximately $37 worth of food items. #2 – Officers were dispatched to the Roadster Truck Stop for a report of a shoplifter. The suspects had departed by the time the officers arrived. Staff reported that they committed a theft 3 days prior; they took 6 gallons of Rotella motor oil valued at $181. This case is under investigation.
There were 4 arrests last week. #1 – A 55-year-old female was arrested for prostitution in the parking lot of US Renal Care. Yes, not the parking lot of a truck stop … but the parking lot of a dialysis center. She had approached two different males, and they alerted police. She was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 – A 33-year-old male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon. The reason for the stop was that he didn’t have any lights on his trailer. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #3 – A 47-year-old male was cited and released for “open container of alcohol in a vehicle”, This occurred in the H.E.B. parking lot. #4 – A traffic stop on Railroad Street resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old male for an active warrant out of Atascosa County for possession/delivery of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
We participated in two 911 events this past week. On Friday, we attended a flag raising and memorial at the Lytle Masonic Cemetery. On Saturday, we assisted the Lytle V.F.W. with their 911 Freedom Walk. It seems hard to believe that it has been 25 years. I remember that morning well; I just got to work at the police station (which was at city hall back then), and we watched it unfold on the TV in the break room. It was the period before smart phones and 24-hour TV news stations on cable was how you kept up with what was going on.
The city’s Homecoming Night Parade / 75th Anniversary Festival is this Saturday! The music starts on Main Street at 5 PM. The parade should start at 8:30 PM. We will shut down most of Main Street for the parade. When the parade ends, about 9:30 PM, we will reopen Main Street … the exception being the two blocks between Somerset Street and Prairie Street. Those will remain closed until 11:45 PM. Check social media or contact city hall for more information. It should be fun; I like events like this … short and to the point.
Don’t forget our National Night Out event on Tuesday, October 6th at the Lytle Community Center on Priest Blvd. The hours will be from 6 PM – 8 PM. Email or call if your organization, group, church, business, etc. wants a table. Area law enforcement, fire, and emergency services staff and equipment will be present. Some of the groups attending have surprisingly good door prizes!
