JOHNSTON, Iowa — At 8:00 p.m., the Johnston-Grimes Fire District, assisted by units from Urbandale and Saylor Township, responded to a working structure fire at 6020 Blackstone in Johnston.

Upon arrival, crews encountered an active fire and worked quickly to bring it under control. The fire is now contained, and crews are actively checking for extension within the structure. The building sustained moderate damage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. A lightning strike is being considered as a possible cause, though this has not yet been confirmed.
