ADVISORY - Hawaii DCR Alert - Missing Work Furlough Inmate
Work furlough inmate Steve R. Abraham was reported missing from a 3:15 p.m. headcount at the Laumaka Work Furlough Center Monday, June 23, 2025. He was not authorized to leave.
State sheriffs were notified.
Abraham is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs approximately 192 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
He is serving time for first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, second-degree assault and third-degree promoting a dangerous drug. His next parole hearing was scheduled for July 2025.
He now faces a second-degree escape charge, a Class C felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison, if convicted.
The Laumaka Work Furlough Center is a minimum-security work furlough center for community custody inmates. Community custody is the lowest security custody classification.
Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
