ADVISORY - Hawaii DCR Alert - UPDATE - Missing Laumaka Work Furlough Inmate Returned to Custody
HONOLULU — Laumaka work furlough inmate Jerwan Lalimo was returned to custody at the Oʻahu Community Correctional Center at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, after state sheriff’s deputies of the Department of Law Enforcement apprehended him in Waipahu.
Lalimo, 29, failed to return to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center by 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025. State sheriffs and the Honolulu Police Department were notified.
Lalimo is serving time for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and terroristic threatening. He may face an escape charge, a Class C felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison, if convicted.
Lalimo is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
Laumaka is a minimum-security work furlough center for community custody inmates. Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
