The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 845 PM MST.
* At 538 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Tombstone, Fairbank and Charleston.
This includes the following highways...
Route 80 between mile markers 311 and 330. Route 82 between mile
markers 60 and 67.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Whitewater Draw, Walnut Gulch, Haberstock Wash, San Pedro River,
Reeves Creek, Clifford Wash, Gadwell Canyon, Slavin Wash,
Babocomari River, Willow Wash and Henderson Wash.
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
