...BREEZY WESTERLY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY THROUGH THE CASCADES AND...
.A dry cold front will push toward the area Friday and push by
Saturday, bringing breezy west to southwesterly winds. The winds
will be strongest near the Cascades and western Columbia Basin
Friday and expand out toward the eastern Columbia Basin Saturday.
Combined with low afternoon relative humidity values, poor to
fair humidity recoveries at night, hot temperatures and dry
fuels, this will bring the potential for critical fire weather
conditions.
The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Fire Weather
Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from
Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
* Affected Area: Foothills of Northeast Washington (Zone 701),
Colville Reservation (Zone 702), Western Columbia Basin (Zone
707) and Eastern Columbia Basin -Palouse -Spokane Area (Zone
708).
* Winds: Southwest 10 to 30 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* Relative Humidities: 10 to 18 percent.
* Impacts: Rapid fire spread is possible with any new or ongoing
fires.
